Topgolf Entertainment Group’s University City location is set to open this Friday.
That 80,000-square-foot venue — the company’s second in the Queen City — is located at 9110 Drivers Way. It sits between the Lynx Blue Line and Interstate 85 in University City.
“As a company focused on building roots and growing the game, we are excited to double down and build an even stronger bond with the culturally rich community of Charlotte,” says Artie Starrs, CEO.
Charlotte’s first Topgolf location opened in summer 2017. It is located near Whitehall Corporate Center in southwest Charlotte.
The University City sports-entertainment complex features 102 climate-controlled, high-tech hitting bays. It also has an outdoor patio, rooftop terrace and private event space. Expect the menu to feature signature items such as wings, nachos, a variety of flatbreads and top-shelf drinks.
The venue will offer music and year-round programming for all ages. Covid-19 protocols are still in place, with bays, golf clubs and game screens disinfected after each group and common areas disinfected hourly.
It will employ approximately 500.
Topgolf serves as the anchor of a planned, 40-acre entertainment district at University City and Ikea boulevards, near Belgate Shopping Center.
Cambridge Properties is the developer on that multiphase project.
A rezoning petition for the project calls for a 150,000-square-foot office building or 150-room hotel, 350 apartments, structured parking, 20,000 square feet of car dealership-related businesses, and an additional 8,000 square feet of commercial space.
Hours for Topgolf will be Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. until midnight; and Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.
